Repeat the process 5-6 times and also working slightly different parts of the thigh each time. By repeating the opening effluerage movement conclude the leg massage. The same process should be repeated stepwise on the other leg also. It is worthwhile to cover the legs with towels before you proceed to take up the next stage. You may keep a hot-water bottle or an extra blanket at the feet. Now we will take up the process of massaging the back.

Back Massage

As our back has to bear and carry the weight of upper and middle portion of our body, it remains under a lot of strain most of the time. Apart from it, wrong postural positions also contribute a lot to the problem relating to the back. It is better to use relaxing movements in massage, avoiding exerting too much of pressure thereon, hence the strokes must be broad and flowing.

General Massage Posture of the Back

If we look closely at the given picture, we notice the masseur is seated to the left of the partner. Oil should be massaged evenly over the back, maintaining smooth upward strokes, following the direction of lymph flow. In the following picture the masseur loosens the tissue all over the back so as to relieve tension, restore lymph flow and stimulate blood circulation. The masseur should kneel to the level of the buttocks, he should face the head in such a way that he could lean into the movement so as to reach the shoulders, without exerting any amount of strain.
